When you join, you become part of a community where everyone aims to contribute in some way. The more you get involved, the stronger our community becomes. There are many ways you can contribute:

Say G’Day!

Don’t just wait in the car – pop in and say G’Day! A quick chat with the Leaders or other parents will help you feel part of what’s going on. Watching the opening or closing parade will give you a better understanding of what your Scout is learning and make it far easier for you to support their Scouting journey.

Lend a Hand

Whenever you can, say “yes” when help is needed! Helping Leaders to set up or pack down after a meeting or event goes a long way. You might also lend a hand with fundraising, promotions, or equipment maintenance. Every little bit makes a big difference.

Support Fundraising

Fundraising helps keep our fees low and supports projects like building maintenance, new equipment, and activity resources. You can help by buying or selling items during fundraising drives or volunteering your time at events. We know families are busy – most of our Leaders juggle full-time jobs too – but even small contributions are greatly appreciated.

Share Your Skills and Interests

Every parent has something to offer. Do you have a hobby, trade, or area of expertise? From woodworking to astronomy, cooking to first aid, HAM radio to environmental care – we can often turn your skills into a badge night or special experience for our youth members. Talk to your child’s Leader if you’d like to get involved – your ideas are always welcome!

Become an Official Adult Helper

If you find yourself helping regularly, you are encouraged to become an Adult Helper. It’s a simple process involving a Blue Card check and a short application approved by Scouts Queensland. Adult Helpers are trusted members of the team who can step in when Leaders need an extra pair of hands, and they play a vital part in keeping activities safe and fun.

Become a Uniformed Leader

Becoming a Leader is one of the most rewarding ways to contribute. Leaders guide youth members through outdoor adventures, creative projects, and personal growth – and learn new skills themselves along the way. An enthusiasm for the outdoors, especially camping and hiking, is an advantage when leading the older Scout sections, though there are Leaders who bring other skills and add great depth and variety to Scouting. Whether you enjoy camping, crafting, problem-solving, or mentoring, there’s a place for you in the leadership team.

New Leaders must complete a range of online and classroom learning within the first 6-12 months of their appointment to become a “qualified” Leader. There is also a huge variety of advanced and specialised training available, all nationally accredited. Moggill Scout Group pays for all training for its Leaders. Leaders’ children also receive a discounted Group fee.

How to get involved

Talk to Leaders about how you can help.

Contact our Group Leader: gl@moggill.scoutsqld.com.au

Stay up to date with the Group’s activities via our Facebook Page.

Read and respond to emails that ask for help.

How you can help Getting Involved at Moggill Scout Group A Scout Group isn’t a paid child-care service – it’s a community of families, leaders, and young people working together to make Scouting happen.
